GNSS Construction Surveying for Mountain Villa

Chouf, Lebanon

We provided full setting-out and earthwork verification surveying for a new private villa in the Chouf district. Using a SOUTH GNSS rover with cm-level RTK accuracy, we staked the building footprint, verified retaining-wall geometry, and produced as-built quantities for the contractor's monthly billing.

GNSS Construction Surveying for Mountain Villa

The Challenge

The site combined steep terrain with multi-level retaining walls and required tight coordination with both the excavator crew and the structural engineer. Any setting-out error early in the build would propagate through every level above it, so the survey had to be defensible against the design drawings and the OEA-approved permit set.

The Result

The villa shell was set out and verified to within design tolerance on every level. The contractor used our as-built quantities directly for billing, and the client received a complete control record they can hand to any future engineer working on the site.

Our Solution

1

RTK GNSS Reference Network

We established a local RTK base station tied to a known control point so the rover could deliver centimeter accuracy across the full site, even on the lower terraces where line-of-sight was limited.

2

Building Footprint & Retaining-Wall Setting-Out

Building corners, retaining-wall alignments, and rebar-cage centerlines were staked and double-checked against the architect's plan. Each stake was tagged with elevation so the formwork team could pour to design level without re-measurement.

3

Earthwork Quantity Verification

Pre- and post-excavation surveys produced cut-and-fill volumes for the contractor. The same dataset fed an as-built record for the client and supported monthly progress invoicing without disputes.
